As summer starts to draw to a close, there are probably a few yard projects you’ve been putting off that you should consider checking off your list. Your yard, home, and even outdoor patio can take a beating during the fall and winter, so preparing now can keep them in the best shape for next summer. Here are a few outdoor projects to consider now that fall is fast approaching.

  1. Pressure Wash Your Home and Patio
Giving your home, patio, and deck a good wash to get rid of the buildup from summer parties and BBQ’s can really improve the look of your home. This activity is best done in summer before the cold weather makes it impossible to do.
  2. Seal Your Driveway
Cold weather can take a toll on your driveway, with cracks becoming larger and larger because of the snow and ice. Have a professional come to take a look at your driveway to assess what parts you may need resealing before winter hits.
  3. Cover Gutters
Covering your gutters before the trees start to drop their leaves can prevent the nasty build-up of leaves and debris this fall. Adding gutter covers can also prevent ice dams, freezing, rust, and corrosion, which can do damage to your home in the long run if you’re not careful.
  4. Paint Exterior Surfaces
Before it gets too cold to paint, consider touching up exterior parts of your home, such as siding, window frames, fences, and even your shed if you have one. Paint needs time to dry and cure, and if it doesn’t have enough time to do so, it can crack and peel once the cold weather hits.
  5. Stain and Seal Your Deck
With all the snow and ice winter brings, your deck can really weather over the cold months. Consider sanding down the top layer of your deck, restaining it to make it look new, and then reseal it to protect it over fall and winter. Your deck is a fun place to hang out with friends and family, keep it looking like new all year long with this project.
